Mike McKinley. Passion: How Christ’s Final Day Changes Your Every Day. UK: The Good Book Company, 2013. 160 pp. $12.99.

Developed from a sermon series preached at Guilford Baptist Church in Virginia, Passion stands as a phenomenal resource for pastors and laypersons alike looking for an expositional walk through the last day of the life of Christ. “The cross of Christ,” he writes, “is the reality that gives shape to the way Christians should think about every detail of our lives right now, from our marriages to our money, from our suffering to our success” (10).

In Passion, McKinley systematically walks the reader through Luke’s narrative of Jesus’ last earthly day directing him to specific snapshots that should make an incredible impact upon his life – from the desperate but yielded prayer in the graden to the victorious empty tomb.

This is a tremendous resource to put in someone’s hands as Easter approaches. It was released in time to serve as a Lenten devotional, but would be just as powerful to read during Passion Week, between Palm Sunday and Easter. Sensing that the book serves the reader best devotionally, the author provides four different Bible reading plans to provide the necessary foundation to truly appreciate the book.

This would be a fantastic resource to put in someone’s hands for Easter.
